Abstract

The article presents a panorama of labor and demographic trajectories of chamula population in correspondence to the regional socioeconomic transformations. It develops a brief analysis of the chamula labor participation inside different economies that operate on the southeast of Mexico; in basis to census information, it is observed the demographic dynamic that chamula population has had and its implications in migratory movements. The article also emphasizes the direct relation among demographic growing in the indigenous population, its effects on migration and demographic growing in a destination place. Furthermore, based in a brief comparative analysis, the article stands the effects of the migration on chamula population's standard of living which resides in San Cristobal de las Casas, respect to the standard of living of native population from Chamula town. Thus, it is concluded that some variables register advances, and others stagnation and retrogressions.
