Abstract

JURADO MONTELONGO, Mario Alberto. Labour life cycle of high schooling workers in the Metropolitan Zone of Monterrey (1987-2000). Pap. poblac [online]. 2004, vol.10, n.39, pp.177-217. ISSN 2448-7147.

Currently, labour markets and forms of labour insertion are reassessing certain socio-labour elements, making it possible that a tendency exists towards a homogenisation of labour conditions for workers of high schooling, independently from certain socio-demographic characteristics. In this article, several indicators like age and gender were used to represent the differences between the workers and, on the other hand, the variables such as occupation, work position, wages, labour contract and social security were used to indicate forms of employment. In the first place, specific rates of economic participation based on gender differences were analysed. It was tried to find a pattern of behaviour in both men and women, and to analyse the transit from salaried employment to unsalaried employment. Finally, the individual changes of occupation and types of use are observed.

Keywords : Occupational trajectory; labour mobility; work position; gender differences; Metropolitan Zone of Monterrey.
