Abstract

WELTI CHANES, Carlos. The beginning of sexual and reproductive history of Mexican women. The most recent picture. Pap. poblac [online]. 2005, vol.11, n.45, pp.143-176. ISSN 2448-7147.

Using information from the National Survey of Reproductive Health, carried out in 2003, this article analyzes the age at first intercourse and age at first birth by age-cohort, level of education and place of residence. In this case for women living in eight States that may be analyzed individually given their sample size. It is identified the sexual partner at the first intercourse, the use of contraceptives, and the reasons for not using contraceptives during this event. The results confirm not only that women of younger ages are postponing the first intercourse and the birth of their first birth, but also differentials by level of education. The data show that age at first birth has a significant effect on cumulative fertility.

Keywords : fertility; adolescent fertility; sexual intercourse; first birth; Mexico.
