Abstract

DE OLIVEIRA, Orlandina. Young people and labour precariousness in Mexico. Pap. poblac [online]. 2006, vol.12, n.49, pp.37-73. ISSN 2448-7147.

We try to deepen in the study of the situation of labour precariousness of the young salaried population in Mexico at the beginning of the XXI century. Based on the National Youth Survey 2000, we analyzed the current work of the young people (from 12 to 29 years of age) who perform salaried activities. The quality of the insertion of the young people in the labour market by means of the construction of the employment precariousness/quality is evaluated, and the relative importance of different factors in the explanation of the studied phenomenon we take into account socio-spatial, labour, family and individual aspects. By means of the application of the regression models we describe the labour and sociodemographic and labour of the working young people.

Keywords : labour market; young people; salaried employment; quality of employment; labour precariousness; Mexico.
