Abstract

This article reviews the literature on migration of indigenous populations to the cities of Mexico and Tijuana during the second half of the XX century, with the aim to systematize suppositions and findings of researches on the integration process of the indigenous people into the urban environment. In the first part there is a revision of the literature on Mexico City and some important works on other cities such as Oaxaca, and Guadalajara, organized in a chronological manner, tracing the theoretical-conceptual approaches and empirical findings around the integration process of the indigenous people to everyday life. In the second part there is the revision of the literature on indigenous migration to Tijuana, with special attention to the integration process to the trans-border dynamics.
