Abstract

CASTRO LUGO, David  and  HUESCA REYNOSO, Luis. Wage inequality in Mexico: a review. Pap. poblac [online]. 2007, vol.13, n.54, pp.225-264. ISSN 2448-7147.

The document presents a survey of the recent literature on labor market and the problematic of wage inequality identifying the main characteristics in the process, the stated hypotheses, as well as the possible lines of research on the subject. Evidence indicates that as from the second half of the eighties and as far the first half of the nineties wage inequality increased. The studies have explored different hypotheses, which can be classified in three sources: related to demand, supply and institutional factors.
