Abstract

BAENINGER, Rosana  and  OJIMA, Ricardo. New territorialities and risk society: empirical evidences and theoretical challanges to the understanding of new migration spaces. Pap. poblac [online]. 2008, vol.14, n.58, pp.141-154. ISSN 2448-7147.

Each time the complexity of the contemporary social urban phenomena becomes more evident. Thus, themes like the reorganization of the urban space, the consolidation of new urban agglomerations and the spatial mobility of the population lack of new theoretical approaches facing such evidences. Social theory has been arguing that a new stage of modernity has come, where the "unexpected effects" of the industrial development become more forceful; or either, it is an intermediate period between the security and the unconsciousness in which the social risks drives the social action. At last, the main intention of this paper is to extend the debate and put some light with new perspectives for the understanding of the Brazilian and latin american demographic dynamics concerning all these social transformations.

Keywords : migration; urbanization; risk.
