Abstract

GARROCHO, Carlos  and  FLORES, Zochilt. Delimitation of the traditional downtown commercial and service area of the Metropolitan Zone of Toluca. Pap. poblac [online]. 2009, vol.15, n.61, pp.233-274. ISSN 2448-7147.

In this work a method based upon the analysis of pedestrian flows to outline the traditional downtown commercial and service area of the Metropolitan Zone of Toluca is proposed; the method (pedestrian fluxscopy) allowed establishing spatial boundaries in function of the opportunities of doing business. This might turn out useful to orient public policies in downtown and to make decisions on the location of the brands. Additionally, the fact of having disaggregated information on the vitality of downtown allowed better monitoring its evolution and performance in the years to come.

Keywords : urban center; central city; pedestrian; sub-center; metropolitan zone; Toluca; Mexico.
