Abstract

The mexican electoral register is an instrument consisting of more than 84 million collected records in about 21 years of constant innovation, included in the collection of data, the technological instruments used for its construction, and its permanent maintenance and updates. The document presents two main objectives, the first consists in analyzing the demographic structure of the electoral instrument and describing the technological innovations that the Instituto Federal Electoral has applies in order to consolidate the electoral roll, the credential with its photo, and the nominal list for voters. The second one is to analyze the legislation relative to the protection of personal data and the way the EFI has implemented the respective technology to protect them.
