Abstract

YBANEZ ZEPEDA, Elmyra; MUNOZ MELENDEZ, Gabriela; CRUZ PINEIRO, Rodolfo  and  PEREZ GAMBOA, Moisés. Algorithm for estimating net migration balances in Mexican States. Pap. poblac [online]. 2015, vol.21, n.83, pp.75-98. ISSN 2448-7147.

This paper describes design, development and implementation of an Algorithm to Compute Net Migration Balances in Mexican States (ASNM for its initials in Spanish) based on the regional model of Rogers; this uses an origin-destiny matrix to describe internal migration and incorporates both natural growth and international immigration and emigration along the main diagonal. ASNM uses data of a demographic nature, with the primordial goal to respect them, avoiding over manipulation and allowing its true nature to emerge through an appropriate model. Results showed that the annual contribution of the Net Migration Balance to the total population per state does not vary more than three per cent, according to both ASNM estimations for 2015 and observed counting for the 2010 census.

Keywords : Net migration balance; algorithm; Rogers regional model; Mexico.
