This paper aims to classify and characterize the territory of Buenos Aires City with a typology of habitats or urban settings that define differential sociodemographic and residential dynamics. It develops the proposal of Mexican geo-demographics, which combined the classical spatializations of socioeconomic status with an exhaustive classification of the territory into what they call "types of population settlement", which are defined by the period of urbanization and considering how the living space was produced. Using as source of data previous surveys conducted in the City and the National Census of Population, Households and Housing 2010, the spatial units of Buenos Aires City are classified in this typology of urban environments.
