Abstract

BENASSI, Federico; FERRARA, Raffaele  and  STROZZA, Salvatore. Recent evolution of the settlement patterns of the main foreign communities in Italy. Pap. poblac [online]. 2015, vol.21, n.86, pp.73-104. ISSN 2448-7147.

In recent past, the foreign population usually resident in Italy has notably grown, showing a clear tendency to a sable settlement. The spatial distribution of this population is an important key to better understand the general integration process in the country of destination. At the beginning of the XXI century, scholars individuated three main settlement patterns, but nowadays the situation is quite different and probably more complex. The aim of this paper is to analyse the recent evolution of settlement patterns of the main ethnics' groups usually resident in Italy.

Keywords : Foreign population; ethnic groups; settlement models; spatial distribution; residential segregation; Italy.
