Abstract

GARCIA ZARATE, Teresa. Impact of internal and external remittances in reduction of poverty in Mexico: An analysis on household level from Propensity Score Matching (PSM) techniques. Pap. poblac [online]. 2015, vol.21, n.86, pp.105-145. ISSN 2448-7147.

There is no research to understand the two types of remittances (internal and external), neither for the analysis of poverty, considering households and dwellings, nor to know the importance of each of these have in Mexico. Likewise, it has neglected the importance which may have internal remittances in household income and housing, poverty reduction and productive investment, as most reports have focused on the relevance that could have the external. It is for this that in this work is prepared a study descriptively, which aims to determine that internal remittances keep the same importance as compared with the external. Similarly differs to what type of households and dwellings are allocated each of these sources of income, mainly on those who are in poverty. Discovering that households that are worse poverty are those who receive mainly foreign remittances. As for internal remittances, they are concentrated in households that are in better condition for characteristics that refer to poverty.

Keywords : Poverty; remittances; migration.
