Abstract

BONVALET, Catherine. Intergenerational relationships: ¿a topical question or a relic of the past?. Pap. poblac [online]. 2016, vol.22, n.88, pp.47-75. ISSN 2448-7147.

Traditionally, demography looks at the family from the angles of marriage, fertility, divorce, and changes in family structures -in other words, the family as a household. In the last twenty years, however, family research has extended beyond the study of family structures to explore kinship networks. This article describes the emergence and development of research on family relationships in France and looks at the specific characteristics of intergenerationational relationships in a post-modern era.

Keywords : Intergenerationational relationships; family; France; demography; sociology.
