Abstract

TISNES, Adela  and  SALAZAR-ACOSTA, Luisa María. Population aging in Argentina. Being an aging adult in Argentina. A social vulnerability approach. Pap. poblac [online]. 2016, vol.22, n.88, pp.209-236. ISSN 2448-7147.

The main feature of the world population in the twenty-first century will be aging. Understood as a process that is characterized by the increasing population of older adults. The progress and current status of the process in each country is different. The general aim of this research is to characterize the population over 65 years (which is considered older adult), considering further older adults as subjects of social assistance, when exposed to conditions of homelessness, disability, marginalization and abuse. Take into account that current realities are determined strongly by the previous stages of the life cycle of individuals, not only personal, but also the family, socioeconomic and historical.

Keywords : Population aging; social vulnerability; sociodemographic inequality.
