Abstract

VAZQUEZ-PEREZ, Delfino et al. Participation in reproductive strategies of Ch´ol women in Chulum Juarez, Chiapas. Pap. poblac [online]. 2016, vol.22, n.89, pp.133-164. ISSN 2448-7147.

In this work are presented research findings on the position and condition of indigenous women in Ch'ol community, Chulúm Juarez, Tila, Chiapas on their participation in productive, reproductive and community work associated with the reproductive strategies of domestic groups in the locality. The methodology and techniques used had a qualitative approach. Were conducted interviews, participatory assessment workshops, participant observation and key informant interviews. The social position of women in domestic groups and the community in decision-making, and in the use, access and control of natural and economic resources is of subordination and exclusion. The woman condition is disadvantageous in the experience of poverty, which is associated with the lack of appreciation of their contribution and participation in reproductive strategies, due to traditional gender constructions.

Keywords : Social position; domestic group; generic assignments.
