Abstract

LLORENT, Vicente J.  and  ALAMO, Mercedes. Initial teacher training in attitudes toward cultural diversity. Validation of a scale. Pap. poblac [online]. 2019, vol.25, n.99, pp.187-208.  Epub May 25, 2020. ISSN 2448-7147.  https://doi.org/10.22185/24487147.2019.99.08.

The purpose of this investigation was to confirm the scale of Attitudes toward Cultural Diversity (ADC). The instrument comprises seven dimensions: positive intentions, negative intentions, positive beliefs, negative beliefs, positive behavior, negative emotions and support capacity. The sample consisted of 508 students of the Faculty of Education at the University of Cordoba. The results of the ADC show that this scale is reliable and valid scale to measure attitudes toward cultural diversity. Furthermore, shown that future teachers have positive attitudes to cultural diversity and teacher training received a positive influence in reducing negative attitudes.

Keywords : Attitudes; cultural diversity; higher education; confirmatory factor analysis and scale.
