The present study aims to explore the acculturation process in migrant women who are members of grassroots organizations in a district of Lima, Peru. A qualitative research of phenomenological design was carried out, in-depth interviews were applied to 11 migrant women who participate in a grassroots social organization. A thematic content analysis was applied, and we found that the acculturation process is experienced through their personal situation before migrating, which includes aspects related to the motivation to do so; the comparison between their culture of origin and that of their destination, which includes the perceptions of both spaces and their reactions and feelings towards them; and finally, the personal situation after migrating, which encompasses the processes of cultural integration and assimilation.

Keywords : Acculturation; migrant women; Grassroots Social Organization; phenomenology.
