Abstract

VERA-CARDENAS, Edgar Ernesto  and  ZAMORA-CAMPOS, Luis Alberto. Mechatronic development of prototype for wear tests. Ing. invest. y tecnol. [online]. 2018, vol.19, n.3, pp.305-320. ISSN 2594-0732.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fi.25940732e.2018.19n3.026.

This work presents the mechatronic development of a reciprocating machine for sliding contact, which can perform sliding wear tests on materials and coatings in a ball-on-flat configuration. A shaker of variable frequency is used. The shaker moves a shaft that holds the ball, which makes contact by sliding with the plane (specimen). The machine has the ability to perform tests in dry and lubricated conditions, as well as at different temperatures ranging from room temperature to 500°C. It has a program where the test parameters are controlled, as well as an automatic stop once the programmed number of cycles has been reached. An interface, a data acquisition card and a data storage were implemented. Therefore the mechatronics integration was satisfactory and the results of the preliminary tests performed were supported by profilometry, optical microscopy and calculation of the coefficient of friction.
