Ing. invest. y tecnol. [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.3. Epub Aug 03, 2021. ISSN 2594-0732. https://doi.org/10.22201/fi.25940732e.2021.22.3.020.
Nowadays the power quality enhancement has taken a lot of relevance due to the sustained growth of the electric energy demand to be supplied with high standards and efficiency. An important issue to supply electrical energy complying with quality standards at consumption points consists of having a balance between energy demand and generation, through involving active and reactive power compensation systems, with which it is possible to have an acceptable voltage regulation and a good power factor. In this work, a static reactive power compensator named STATCOM is proposed, which is composed by a utility grid, an LCL filter, a three-phase inverter, and a DC bus. From the mathematical model of the reactive power compensator, the control system is synthesized to regulate the reactive power and the DC bus voltage of a three-phase inverter, applying the super-twisting control law to provide robustness to the system performance and cancel external disturbances, some of which are produced by feeding an induction motor under load conditions. This work presents experimental results for validating the robustness of the control system applied to the reactive power compensator.
