Abstract

MEDINA-ANGEL, Gustavo; MARTINEZ-SANCHEZ, Erika  and  BURLAK, Gennadiy. Numerical simulation of Cherenkov radiation on a CNT structure of variable sizes for different charge velocities. Ing. invest. y tecnol. [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.4, e1846.  Epub May 01, 2023. ISSN 2594-0732.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fi.25940732e.2022.23.4.025.

The electromagnetic field generated by a system of carbon nanotubes of variable length and radius that interacts with a charge that travels at a fast velocity above a CNT nanostructure was investigated. The simulated nanotubes are found resonating at a certain frequency ω p , an important resonance parameter that generates different levels of surface plasmons. The Finite Differences in the Time Domain method (FDTD) was applied to study a frequency range ω p where a maximum peak of plasmon-polariton energy was found with an optimal coupling between the charge and the CNTs system.

Keywords : CNT; Cherenkov; plasmon-polariton; FDTD; Charge.
