Abstract

PANIAGUA-MAZORRA, Ángel. The indivudualisation of the rural world: Analytical dimensions for a generalisable concept?. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2008, vol.8, n.27, pp.639-659. ISSN 2448-6183.

The individualisation that can be seen in rural societies suggests similarities with its urban counterpart due to their own geographical characteristics as well as the (de)composition process of a traditional society and the addition of urban values in the rural space. In the urban space, social individualisation processes are considered as "positive" as a consequence of postmodern society and the development of individual rights. At the same time, in the rural space these processes present different dimensions: territorial, social, perceptive and political; all with different "positive" and "negative" formulations. The different associations of both dimensions suggest several analytical and methodological interpretations.

Keywords : individualisation; rural environment; risk; analytical dimensions.
