Abstract
MONTESILLO-CEDILLO, José Luis. Water and human development in the State of Mexico. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2011, vol.11, n.37, pp.759-786. ISSN 2448-6183.
The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between the level of average annual rainfall in the 125 municipalities of the State of Mexico, the human development index (HDI) and the components of the marginalization index. The main result is that the natural availability of water is not related to HDI and its relation to the components of the marginalization index is negative, however small. Consequently, the conclusion is that the natural availability of water is a factor neither of human development nor economic development in the municipalities of the state of Mexico.
Keywords : level of average annual rainfall; human development index; deprivation/marginalization index and gross domestic product per capita (adjusted in US dollars).
