Abstract
RODRIGUEZ PEREZ, Reyna Elizabeth and CASTRO-LUGO, David. Gender wage discrimination in the labor market in Mexico and its regions. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.46, pp.687-714. ISSN 2448-6183.
The goal of this paper is to analyze gender job earnings, determine the wage gap and discrimination in Mexico and its regions. We apply the Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition to the 2000-2004 National Urban Employment Survey 2000-2004. We found a gender wage gap in favor of men, and more than 85 percent of these differences are linked to discrimination. Regionally, the gap oscillates between 15 and 25% and the discrimination tends to converge at 20%, however, in the Capital region it converges at 13 por ciento.
Keywords : discrimination; wage inequity; Mexico; labor market; regions.
