In Latin America, the Social Production of Housing has been a de facto solution facing the inability of the Government to create institutional conditions to facilitate full provision of housing to all sectors of society. In this way, this production model can be described as effective, because in countries like Mexico this scheme has produced more than a half of the dwellings, however, it is a very inefficient process because its condition of informality. In this article, two cases of formal Social Production of Housing are evaluated to determine their effectiveness and success factors.
