Abstract
DIAZ CARRENO, Miguel Ángel and HUERTA QUIROZ, Judith. Co-movement between Mexico and the United States Consumer Confidence Indexes 2001-2018. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2020, vol.20, n.62, pp.753-780. Epub May 26, 2020. ISSN 2448-6183. https://doi.org/10.22136/est20201379.
This research analyzes the co-movement between Mexico and the United States consumer confidence indexes during the period 2001-2018. This co-movement was obtained by using the Spearman correlation coefficient once the series were filtered using the methodology used by Hodrick-Prescott and Christiano-Fitzgerald. First, this correlation was estimated between both consumer confidence indexes. The most relevant findings are that the correlation between both indexes is high throughout the whole study period. However, during the recession of 2001-2003 and the “Great Recession” of 2007-2009, the correlation between these indicators was even higher.
