Abstract

OTEGUI BANNO, Santiago; CALA, Carla Daniela  and  BELMARTINO, Andrea. Economic Resilience in Argentina: Recoverability and Specialization profiles of Local Labor Markets (1996-2015). Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.69, pp.339-365.  Epub Oct 16, 2022. ISSN 2448-6183.  https://doi.org/10.22136/est20221746.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the recoverability of 85 Local Labor Markets (LLM) in Argentina and its relationship with the regional specialization profiles during the expansion periods of 2002-2008 and 2009-2015. A descriptive approach is adopted (Kruskal-Wallis test by ranks) and official data from registered, private employment is used. The main results support our hypothesis: LLMs specialized in procyclical activities such as extraction of non-renewable resources and tourism show the highest levels of recoverability.

Keywords : resilience; recoverability; economic geography; industrial structure; specialization.
