Abstract

WALLE FLORES, Grecia Roxette; GARCIA-FERNANDEZ, Francisco  and  LEGARRETA-GONZALEZ, Martín Alfredo. Clusters and Chains in the economy of Tamaulipas (México) from the Input Output Matrix. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.69, pp.457-491.  Epub Oct 16, 2022. ISSN 2448-6183.  https://doi.org/10.22136/est20221718.

The economy of Tamaulipas shows a marked process of cluster formation. The objective of this study was to identify the main productive chains and clusters of the region, from the regionalized input output matrix. A principal components analysis was performed using Feser and Bergman methodology, as well as a study of productive chains using Chenery and Watanabe index, and Nørregaard Rasmussen indexes for power and sensitivity of dispersion. Eleven clusters were identified in Tamaulipas’ economy. Eight clusters stand out given their contribution to the intermediate consumption demand and their relationship with the state’s economic structure.

Keywords : Tamaulipas; Input Output Matrix; Cluster; Regional Economy.
