Abstract

HERNANDEZ DZIB, Germán; MARTINEZ ROMERO, Eduardo  and  ESPARZA-OLGUIN, Ligia. Socio-environmental evaluation of the National Forest Program in two ejidos in the municipality of Calakmul, Campeche. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.69, pp.693-725.  Epub Oct 16, 2022. ISSN 2448-6183.  https://doi.org/10.22136/est20221784.

The National Forest Program promotes conservation, sustainable management, and restoration. This study used socioeconomics and ecological approaches to evaluate the effects of the programs in two ejidos in Calakmul and to provide recommendations to improve its management and implementation. The evaluation indicates that objectives were not met since the socioeconomic conditions of the target population did not improve, and the reforested areas showed survival rates of less than 6%. We suggested improving training and the monitoring or evaluation process and adapting the techniques to the environmental conditions of each region.

Keywords : forest policy; National Forest Program; reforestation; conservation; Calakmul.
