Abstract

PARIS, Melisa et al. Economic valuation of the CO2 emissions from land use change. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2023, vol.23, n.73, pp.901-929.  Epub Nov 13, 2023. ISSN 2448-6183.  https://doi.org/10.22136/est20231883.

The Metropolitan Area of Mendoza is suffering a disorganized urban expansion that produces transformations of the land, generating environmental costs, particularly on the soil´s potential for climatic regulation, but without considering these in decision-making. For this reason, we seek to value these impacts economically. As case study, focused on a vineyard located in Chacras de Coria, Luján de Cuyo. The results show that, if this ecosystem services is not incorporated in the sale price of the land, there is an underestimation of its value and price, which promotes a disorganized form of urban growth.

Keywords : economic valuation; sensibility analysis; cropland convertion; CO2 emissions; environmental impacts..
