Abstract

ETCHEVERRY, Juan B.. How the Constitutional Court of Spain manages its excessive workload problem?. Cuest. Const. [online]. 2015, n.32, pp.141-155. ISSN 1405-9193.

This paper seeks to show how the Constitutional Court of Spain has tackled the problem of having an excessive workload, by analyzing the most noticeable results that have been accomplished by the last reform carried out in 2007, with a special emphasis on the way this Court processes the amparo appeals. With this in mind, this paper offers an explanatory description of the new requirements the amparo appeal must meet, and studies to what extent the 2007 amendments have facilitated the work of the Spanish Constitutional Court, and how the latter applies and specifies such requisites.

Keywords : Constitutional Court of Spain; amparo appeal; special constitutional importance; discretionary jurisdiction.
