Abstract

OROZCO HENRIQUEZ, J. Jesús. Inter-American Standards on Political-Electoral Rights. Cuest. Const. [online]. 2019, n.40, pp.107-139.  Epub Mar 20, 2020. ISSN 1405-9193.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iij.24484881e.2019.40.13229.

This article offers an outlook on the standards established by the organs of the Inter-American System of Human Rights (Inter-American Court and Commission) on political rights, especially those dealing with electoral issues. To this end, it points out the criteria settled by the Court and the Commission through legal precedents from case resolutions and the granting of provisional and precautionary measures, as well as others established by the Commission through its human rights monitoring work in the OAS member states (annual, thematic or country reports, as well as public hearings and press releases). These standards have contributed to guarantee the exercise and enjoyment of political rights in the region and have become guide and parameter for judicial and management electoral authorities in America’s countries.
