Abstract

SAETTELE, Hans. Los dilemas del sexo: (a-) sexuación, (in-) diferencia, (des-)igualdad. La ventana [online]. 2011, vol.4, n.33, pp.8-41. ISSN 1405-9436.

This article proposes to explore the field of sexual difference through a psychoanalytic framework. The reflection begins with the assumption that the process of sexuation is unfinished and, because of this, it is permanently subjected to the vicissitudes of the relation between knowledge and sex. In this way, the bodily dimension must be understood not as an "embodied" production of meanings, but rather as the breaking point of discourse. This paper presents three dilemmas upon which the sexed subject and culture must constantly take up positions: a) we are sexed, but never completely, mainly because of our inevitable subjection to the object cause of desire, and this results in an originary (a)sexuation; b) Sexual difference between the masculine and feminine cannot find its originary differentiating trait, since of this trait nothing can be known; and c) from the previous we deduce that on the social level, said indeterminacy of sexual difference and its submission to the object cause of desire brings as its consequence a discontent with equality.

Keywords : Sexuation; body; masculine; feminine; psychoanalysis.
