In this introduction to our translation of "Inventing sex", we briefly describe the context of feminist debates in the emergence of the idea of sex work. We also offer a key to understanding the current relevance of this translation in the context of a strong polarization of the feminist debates on prostitution and the trans-nationalization of the campaign against human trafficking.
