Abstract

REAL VILLARREAL, Lilia Paola del  and  ALVAREZ-MONSIVAIS, Edrei. Executive mothers self-representation within the organizational culture and their vertex geography. La ventana [online]. 2024, vol.7, n.59, pp.187-224.  Epub Apr 12, 2024. ISSN 1405-9436.  https://doi.org/10.32870/lv.v7i59.7728.

The concept of vertex geography is proposed as the space in which executive mothers are simultaneously present in the domestic and work environments through the virtuality facilitated by technological devices (cell phone, computer, tablet). 16 mothers in Monterrey between 36 and 45 years old with a managerial position were interviewed to detect what the dynamics are like within the vertex geography and what are its spatial and discursive limits. The results are exposed from narratives of self-representation in this space, which allow to conclude that the use of technological devices perpetuates the double shift of the interviewees; but also, that its use defies the rule of physical closeness as the only way to exercise motherhood.

Keywords : executive mothers; vertex geography; self-representation; double shift; hyper-maternalism.
