Abstract

GONZALEZ PEREZ, César Octavio. La identidad gay: una identidad en tensión. Una forma para comprender el mundo de los homosexuales. Desacatos [online]. 2001, n.6, pp.97-110. ISSN 2448-5144.

Gay identity has become an increasingly powerful presence in modern society. Being gay is something more than just men and women having sexual relations with others of their same gender; it is a framework that open doors when pondering gender and the social constuction of homosexualities. The use of the plural is intentional as this essay describes how homosexuality is excercised in diferent forms. In this essay, the author presents an alternative theory to understand homosexualities. For this purpose González Pérez centers his observations on the creation of gay identity, a category adopted to collectively asume their spaces and territories. The authors intention is to show how gay is situated within the social field of “sexuality”.
