Abstract
NAVARRO SMITH, Alejandra. Who would ever have thought? Someone said I'm a Priísta!: State, Indigenous Leaderships and Political Faccionalism in San Jerónimo Tulijá. Desacatos [online]. 2008, n.26, pp.93-118. ISSN 2448-5144.
This paper analyses the formation of three types of indigenous political leadership that point towards the diversification of organizational practices and ways of creating social links inside and outside their region. These leaderships are formed within indigenous communities that interact with the introduction of various State's agents -and their political organization orientations and economic development. The differences between these three types of leadership largely depends on factors such as life trajectories, as well as the relationships and alliances with actors within networks of political, economic and cultural power, at the local, regional and national levels.
Keywords : indigenous leadership; State's cultural policy; faccionalism; intracommunity violence; counterinsurgency.
