Abstract

MAIDANA, Carolina Andrea; COLANGELO, María Adelaida  and  TAMAGNO, Liliana. Being Indigenous and Being Young: Between Ethnicity and Class. Desacatos [online]. 2013, n.42, pp.131-144. ISSN 2448-5144.

In this paper we think about perceptions, practices and representations concerning a group of young indigenous qom, residents on the outskirts of the city of La Plata, Argentina. As part of the research we have developed for more than 25 years ago, we show the results of the analysis of a particular moment where we question the ways to construct youth identity: "being young" in areas of socialization where ethnicity, age, class and gender dimensions, among others, are intertwined. This approach put in evidence the complexity of the analysis of "youth" as a category, the development of the field of "youth studies" and the need to study the specific contexts in which youth is constructed.

Keywords : youth; Qom people; identity; ethnicity; class.
