Abstract

REA RODRIGUEZ, Carlos Rafael; CEBALLOS CHAVEZ, Luz Angélica  and  VILLASENOR PALACIOS, Bertha Alicia. Sustainable Balance and Social Resistance in the Watershed of San Pedro River in Nayarit. Desacatos [online]. 2015, n.47, pp.116-131. ISSN 2448-5144.

This article addresses the foundation of a space for public debate in Nayarit emerged around the Hydroelectric Project Las Cruces, Nayarit, promoted by the Federal Office of Electricity. We can find the origins of this space in a controversy initiated around the Project Pro-Regiones, which gave birth to an important social movement in the San Pedro river watershed. We analyze the conditions in which such a dispute emerged and evolve, how it is defined in discursive terms, who are the protagonists, which are their repertoire of activities and general orientations, to show the confrontation of two views of well-being: one according to the ideas of progress and modernity, the other enhancing the sustainable balance and dialogue of wisdoms.

Keywords : social movement; public debate; Las Cruces Dam; San Pedro-Mezquital river; sustainable balance.
