Abstract

QUICIOS GARCIA, María del Pilar  and  MIRANDA VIZUETE, Isabel. Training Education for Children of Immigrant People in the "Pre-Training Classrooms" in Spain. REDIE [online]. 2005, vol.7, n.2, pp.1-14. ISSN 1607-4041.

This article describes the initial training that immigrant's children receive as soon as they arrive in Spain. It also shows the reality they have to cope with during the first months of education in Spain. These students have three characteristics: the lack of knowledge or a low level of comprehension of the Spanish language, lower standards of up to two years, or the fact of not having attended school in their countries of origin. Aiming to solve these deficiencies, and to offer them some warranty of success, the Administration's Board of Education decided to enroll them in school for some period of time in specific classrooms specially designed for them called "pre-training rooms". These rooms are a new educational answer which started in January 2002. Nowadays they are starting to rise up.

Keywords : Training education; immigrant's children; difference between standards; pretraining Spanish rooms.
