Abstract

CHAN NUNEZ, María Elena. Mediational Competencies for On-Line Education. REDIE [online]. 2005, vol.7, n.2, pp.1-21. ISSN 1607-4041.

In the article a stand within and for virtual education is taken, considering the importance of training digital environment builders. The competencies needed by actors of educational processes, the same which are necessary for their construction, are conceptualized as mediational. When teachers and students are trained for on-line education, these competencies are not self-evident. Therefore, we are interested in presenting a part of a research project on this kind of abilities. First, an axiological position is taken towards virtual education; next, the way technologies model on-line educational interaction is acknowledged; then, the notions of mediation and mediational competencies are dealt with, to arrive to a design model that considers these competencies in the development of learning environments. The article closes with some thoughts about the need for interdisciplinary integration to favor technological and educational development based on a communicative paradigm.

Keywords : Virtual education; mediation; educational design; digital environments; on-line learning; educational communication.
