Abstract

GIACOBBE, Mirta; MOSCOLONI, Nora; BOLIS, Nora  and  DIAZ, Javiera. The Educational Community and the School: A Case Study, by Means of the Combination of Different Techniques, of a Public Secondary School in Argentina. REDIE [online]. 2007, vol.9, n.1, pp.1-24. ISSN 1607-4041.

Research works in which qualitative and quantitative techniques are combined carry the difficulty of an integral interpretation of the results, due to the private characteristics of these two approaches. In this article the methodology applied in a case study carried out in a school institution is described. The study was directed especially to know the particularities of the educational training that can hinder a constructive educational practice, to know the role that each one of the educational actors perform in the construction of its school, and to identify the characteristics of the educational community that shape the performance of the institution. The work involved the collection, the prosecution and analysis of materials relating to students, professors, parents and educational administrators. Each group was methodologically undertaken in a different way. Low levels of school performance and difficulties in the integration of the educational community were found. Some proposals to face them are presented here.
