Abstract

PEREZ ALDEGUER, Santiago. Evaluation of a Program for Development of Intercultural Competence through Rhythmic Education in Elementary School. REDIE [online]. 2013, vol.15, n.3, pp.124-138. ISSN 1607-4041.

The aim of this research was to evaluate the effects of a rhythmic musical program on the development of intercultural competence in elementary education. A quasi-experimental study using pretest-posttest measurements was applied to 646 elementary school children. Statistical analyses showed significant differences in the experimental group in all of the variables analyzed: knowledge, values, attitudes and behavior. The importance of designing rhythmic educational programs for the development of intercultural competence in different educational contexts is discussed.

Keywords : Music education; interpersonal relationship; basic education.
