Abstract

What is the role of academic literacy in the consolidation of educational reforms in Mexico? This article analyzes an online teaching professional development course focused on preventing and reducing school violence, and where the development of literacy skills played an important role. The investigation essays and reports were analyzed from a sample of 26 participants and ten deep interviews were made. Although the evidential texts proof the shortage skills from the teachers in their access to academic-scientific literacy. The interviews show their potential in the academic writing in order to dialoged with their own professional communities and generate changes in their schools.
