Abstract

MENDOZA GONZALEZ, Brenda  and  BARRERA BACA, Alfredo. Handling of Coexistence in Basic-Level Education: Parent’s Perception. REDIE [online]. 2018, vol.20, n.2, pp.93-102. ISSN 1607-4041.  https://doi.org/10.24320/redie.2018.20.2.1729.

The objective of this descriptive and cross-sectional study was to understand parents’ perceptions regarding strategies to deal with episodes of aggressive behavior between students and the treatment received by students from the educational institution. The study involved 150 parents from 50 public basic-level schools who completed the “Handling of Coexistence in Schools” questionnaire. Results identified two groups: those who were satisfied (57%) and dissatisfied (43%) with school treatment. Dissatisfied parents reported not having been notified in writing when their child was involved in a conflict, and not having been invited to parent workshops aimed at providing information and teaching strategies that can be used at home to improve coexistence in schools.

Keywords : Bullying; education; family; school coexistence.
