Abstract

CORTES GUARDADO, Marco Antonio  and  ORTIZ BARBA, Ismael. Jalisco: democracia electoral con déficit de legitimidad política. Espiral (Guadalaj.) [online]. 2007, vol.13, n.38, pp.45-80. ISSN 1665-0565.

This article examines the configuration of the electoral system of Jalisco, analyzing institutional and political consequences of the electoral reforms and the readjustment in the power relations. Particularly, it brings an apparently paradox to light: the more competed and equitable the electoral competition and the more balanced the political representation are, the more Jalisco people's opposition grows in relation to politics and its components. Political modernization of the state, accompanied by greater democracy, curiously redounds in a decreased legitimacy, more distrust towards politics, so as a decrease in the electoral participation.

Keywords : reforma electoral; comportamiento electoral; representación política; desafiliación política; legitimidad menguante.
