Abstract

MONTEON GONZALEZ, Humberto  and  RIQUELME ALCANTAR, Gabriela María. El presidente Cárdenas y el sufragio femenino. Espiral (Guadalaj.) [online]. 2007, vol.13, n.38, pp.81-109. ISSN 1665-0565.

During General Lázaro Cárdenas' presidential period, the power and activism of the struggle for female vote increased up to unusual levels- Not only feminists, but also social, political and labor organizations held flags demanding an end to women's discrimination and marginalization. This demand was supported by all progressive sectors of the country; even president Cárdenas, in 1937, passed a bill in favor of women's vote; nonetheless, just about becoming an act, it was withdrawn despite being considered an achievement in and outside the country.

Keywords : sufragio; trabajadoras; sindicatos; partidos; discriminación.
