Abstract

GOMEZ PADILLA, Gabriel. Kino in California: 1681-1686. Espiral (Guadalaj.) [online]. 2014, vol.21, n.61, pp.145-190. ISSN 1665-0565.

The article has a twofold purpose: to appraise the father Kino participation in the Isidoro Atondo's expedition to Lower California and give academic recognition to the memory of Miguel Mathes for recording Kino's endeavors. The text goes through the Spanish Crown attempts to colonize California, and portrays a brief biography of Atondo. Finally, it reviews the implementation of the project seri, conceived by Kino in order to fight for the Californians' rights to be evangelized.
