Abstract

This work is a preview of the "state of art" of mining legislation, production, profits and damages, in particular within the borders of Garcia Barragan Cuautitlan, Jalisco, and Minatitlan, Colima. This topic is relevant considering that mining in Mexico has exponentially grown in recent years, and after that has left entire villages affected in their agricultural properties, natural resources and their social-territorial organizations. The incursion of transnational companies are leaving behind deforestation, infertile land, and water, air and wind pollution. The aim of the study is to document this fact in relation to others, linked to global processes. This particular case was documented by archival research, newspaper archives, cartographic and field research. The result is a text that explains the unique situation that contributes the overall situation of Mexico and Latin America.
