Abstract

GALAN CASTRO, Erick Alfonso. Socio-environmental security. Towards a research program from an analytic of governmentality. Espiral (Guadalaj.) [online]. 2021, vol.28, n.82, pp.75-107.  Epub Jan 17, 2022. ISSN 1665-0565.

Based on a theoretical discussion, and through the critical review of some studies, it seeks to offer analytical and conceptual elements to analyze the link between environmental degradation and the environment of criminal violence in the sub-basin region of Rio La Sabana and Laguna de Tres Palos, which is located within the metropolitan area of the city of Acapulco, Guerrero. A theoretical discussion is developed on the nature of the object of socio-environmental study, to then review recent empirical studies in which the present theoretical approach has been used, thus proposing some edges of analysis based on the concept of socio-environmental security. Foucault and Mbembé’s analytic of governmentality is useful for reflecting on socio-environmental participatory processes since they generate reflections on the state of power relations in natural resource management from an approach located in concrete local contexts.

Keywords : socio-environmental security; socio-environmental justice; territory; risk; urban solid waste.
